The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council Greenway is the site for three new RainKeep sculptures by renowned ceramic and environmental artist Allison Newsome.

She created three rain-harvesting pieces, each that can collect up to 400 gallons of rainwater to naturally nourish nearby pollinator plants and shrubs along the urban greenway bike trail that stretches for 7 miles between Downtown Providence to Lyman Avenue in Johnston, Rhode Island.

"The more you learn about it, the more it sticks with you," writes the WRWC in a recent blog post. "Her work connects to water, infrastructure, and the environment. It's one of those pieces that you can appreciate right away."

Local residents and volunteers helped craft ceramic charms at pop-up community events. The charms were shaped like regional wildlife such as turtles, fish and ducklings to decorate and customize the sculptures' rain chains.
